June 19, 2020

WATERTOWN, SD — After two decades, Jim Vachal, Chief Administrative Officer of Brown Clinic, is retiring. When asked if he had big plans, he answered honestly with a smile on his face.

“The first thing on my list is to take a nap,” Jim joked. “But, I am excited to spend more quality time with my grandkids and get out hunting more.”

Jim joined the Brown Clinic family in July of 2000. Throughout the years, Jim has been an integral part of positioning Brown Clinic as a leader in the ever-changing healthcare industry.

“It has been my privilege to be part of the Brown Clinic journey. Together with the physicians and staff, we have accomplished what others thought could not be done,” Jim said. “My focus has always been the success of Brown Clinic, so it is difficult to retire with all the new changes coming for healthcare. But, I look forward to setting some new priorities and spending time with family.”

Jim and his family will remain in Watertown and plan to spend more time at their cabin and outdoors.

“The culture of the community is why we stay,” Jim said. “Watertown will always be our home.”

Brown Clinic has been serving the Watertown community for 85 years.
