Brookings County Sheriff’s Department responds to fuel spill

BROOKINGS, S.D.–The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fuel spill on Interstate 29 Tuesday night.
It was reported just before 7:30 near mile marker 133.
A semi was southbound when the driveshaft became detached. The driveshaft then struck both saddle fuel tanks, spilling about 200 gallons of diesel fuel.
Crews responded quickly and were able to contain the spill.
The incident remains under investigation by the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
