BROOKINGS, S.D.–There haven’t been any cases of COVID-19 reported in Brookings County yet, but that hasn’t stopped local officials there from taking an aggressive step in trying to stop the spread of the virus.

Brookings County and the city of Brookings jointly announced Tuesday that all city and county offices will close to the public.

It’s a precautionary move being done in the interest of safety and health for the residents of the county.

The closure takes effect at noon today (Wednesday), and will remain in place until at least April 6th, or longer, if circumstances dictate.
