BROOKINGS, S.D.–The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department is investigating vandalism to a road sign.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says a deputy was checking on bridge construction equipment southwest of Brookings Tuesday morning, and discovered a “road closed” sign in the ditch.

Some sandbags that were used to hold the sign down had been thrown into the ditch, and profanity had been spray-painted onto the sign.
