BROOKINGS. S.D.—The Brookings City Council has approved a face mask mandate in the midst of this ongoing pandemic.

The ordinance was approved Tuesday night on a 5-2 vote.

It requires face masks to be worn in indoor public and business spaces where six-foot social distancing is not possible.

Speaking in favor of the mandate was Mary Ann Krogh—the Dean of SDSU’s College of Nursing…

Violating the mask ordinance could resulte in a fine of up to $200.

The meeting was moved to the Swiftel Center, which has more seating and room to spread out.
