WATERTOWN, S.D.—A major donation was announced today (Wednesday) by the Watertown Area Community Foundation (WACF).

 

They’re gifting $500,000 to the city of Watertown for the development of a new downtown park.

 

Mayor Sarah Caron was on hand for the announcement, and spoke with KWAT News…..

 


 

The decision to award the grant was unanimous by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The mayor was asked if this grant will help speed up the timeline for developing and opening the new park…..

 

 

The mayor says the gift is worthy of attaching the Community Foundation’s name to the park….

 

 

The park will be built on the north side of Kemp Avenue between the offices of the WACF and the Watertown Senior Center. 

 

The gift was announced at today’s 40th Anniversary WACF Luncheon at the Watertown Event Center.
