MILLER, S.D.—The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a man was killed last night when a tornado swept his vehicle off the road and into a field.

Patrol spokesman Tony Mangan says it happened on South Dakota Highway 45, 13 miles north of Miller.

An RV was southbound on the highway. It was pulling an enclosed trailer holding a small sedan vehicle.

The tornado caused the RV and trailer to detach. The trailer and sedan came to rest in the west ditch.

The RV came to rest on its roof, 150 to 200 yards west of the highway in a nearby field.

The 73 year-old man driving the RV was dead at the scene.

His name has not been released.
