WATERTOWN, S.D.—The COVID-19 virus has reached Codington County.

The South Dakota Department of Health announced Monday that one case has been reported in the county. No other specifics were given.

It’s one of seven new cases reported statewide that brings the overall total to 28.

Governor Noem spoke on a conference call with reporters Monday morning….

Noem says this virus won’t disappear in a week or two, and before it’s all said and done, many counties will have many cases….

Noem says social distancing, staying home, and self quarantining are steps that have been working….

Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron spoke at City Hall following the governor’s comments Monday morning….

Beadle County leads the way with 12 positive cases in South Dakota. Minnehaha County has five. No other county has more than one.
