FARGO, S.D. (GoBison.com) — Two-time defending national champion North Dakota State (13-0) hosts Illinois State (10-4) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Playoffs Saturday, Dec. 14, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
This is the 13th meeting between North Dakota State and Illinois State dating back to 2007. NDSU has won eight straight and leads the series 10-2 including a 37-3 victory on the road in Normal to open Missouri Valley Football Conference play in October. NDSU and Illinois State have one prior FCS playoff meeting with the Bison winning 29-27 in the 2014 national championship. The Redbirds’ only win in six previous trips to Fargo was in NDSU’s 2009 homecoming game, 27-24.
Kickoff set for 11 a.m. with television coverage available on ESPN. The winner of this week’s game will face either Austin Peay or fifth-seeded Montana State in the semifinal round.
