Burnsville, Minn. (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the Track and Field Athletes of the Year today for the 2021 indoor season, with Northern State’s Tanner Berg earning the Field Athlete of the Year award.

Berg won both the weight throw and shot put at the NSIC Championships. He set a new NSIC record in the weight throw with a NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 69-8 (21.23m). His throw of 72-11/75 (22.55m) from earlier this season ranks first in the nation this season. In addition, the junior set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 57-1 (17.40m), which ranks 13th best in the nation this season. He has led the Nation all year for Division II in the weight throw and holds the third best throw of all time for D2. Berg qualified for both events at the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend.
