BBB: De Smet makes a statement to open State B

ABERDEEN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Statement made.

The De Smet Bulldogs came out and made a statement Thursday to open the Class B State Boys Basketball Tournament with an 80-53 win over Lower Brule.

Kalen Garry ended the afternoon shy of a triple-double, 24 points, 10 boards, and seven assists. Garry shot 11 of 23 from the field and two of 10 from three-point land. Damon Wilkinson came off the bench and added 15 points, Tory Holland and Ethan McCune each finished the night with 13.

Brian LaRoche Jr, Gavin Thigh and Keshaume Thigh each had 12 for the Sioux.

The Bulldogs shot 55 percent from the field compared to Lower Brule’s 39 percent. De Smet also dished 21 assists in the game.
