Bats come alive in 12-8 game two win over Brookings

BROOKINGS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Watertown Post 17 would split the Sunday afternoon at Brookings in legion baseball action.

A four-hit afternoon would send the Bandits past Watertown 2-0 in game one. Post 17 would struggle at the plate collecting seven strikeouts. Andrew Czech and Dawson Schmidt would drop down Watertown’s only hits in the game. Kale Stevenson would throw the complete game, issuing eight strikeouts on 82 pitches and walking two.

The bats would come alive in game two as Watertown would down Brookings 12-8. The purple and gold would explode with 13 hits at the plate. Braxton Lacher would heat up for a three-hit, three-RBI afternoon. Schmidt would knock down three hits and one RBI. Easton Thury would throw 88 pitches in five innings of work, striking out two and walking three. Connor Hanson would pitch two innings in relief, tossing 41 pitches, striking out one while walking two.

Watertown (18-14) comes back home to face Fargo Post 400 tonight. Coach Ryan Neale previews the game:
