WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — We will have to wait for baseball in South Dakota a bit longer.
The South Dakota High School Baseball Association Board of Directors met on March 30th to discuss the options put forth for a shortened spring season due to the COVID19 pandemic.
In a release, the SDHSBA says they opted to continue to place the season on till May 4th and keep the high school state tournament as scheduled at the end of May. The board agreed that if the school year is pushed back further, the high school baseball season would be cancelled.
The Watertown Baseball Association opted not to field a high school team this year but instead field a legion team. The legion season in South Dakota, in the words of Watertown Post 17 Coach Ryan Neale, is “on hold”
The first game for Post 17 was scheduled for April 27th at Fargo Davies.
