WATERTOWN, S.D.–Bad weather that caused several flight cancellations held down passenger numbers at Watertown Regional Airport in December.
Airport Manager Rob Cyrus says there were 957 passengers who flew out last month–612 to Denver and 345 to Chicago.
Denver Air Connection was forced to cancel five outbound flights and four arrivals in Watertown in December due to blizzard conditions.
Unofficial numbers show Watertown with 14,631 passenger boardings in 2022. That’s down from more than 18,000 in 2021.
There were two airlines serving Watertown that year–Denver Air and SkyWest Airlines.
SkyWest ceased operations in Watertown on January 3, 2022, leaving Denver Air as Watertown’s only commercial airline.
