As Spring approaches, flood preparations in Watertown well underway  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.—Hydrology experts say it’s not a question of “if” eastern South Dakota will see flooding this spring, but rather, to what extent it’ll be seen.

Codington County is getting prepared before flooding arrives. Jamie Torstenson is the county’s emergency management director….

He says they’re keeping the lines of communication open with a lot of different agencies, so everyone is on the same page…

He says they’ve been talking about the materials they’ll need to hold back high water….

Another flood preparation meeting is being held today (Tuesday) at Bramble Park Zoo, where officials with the Army Corps of Engineers will talk about the flood outlook and flood surveillance work that will be required as the snow melts away.
