SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–Police responded to a shooting in north Sioux Falls early Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. outside of a business in the 3800 block of North Cliff Avenue. A couple groups of people were leaving, and a fight broke out — police do not know what started it.

At some point, a man pulled out a gun and fired it several times.

One person was struck in the leg with a bullet. Everyone scattered after the gunshots.

The victim — a 30-year-old man — was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Using information about the suspect’s vehicle, officers found the suspect a short time later in the 400 block of North Euclid Avenue. The suspect — 27-year-old Cesar Ortizmaestre from Sioux Falls — had left the vehicle, entered a house and then exited the house when officers found him.

He was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Discharge of a Firearm From a Motor Vehicle and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
