BROOKINGS, S.D.—The Brookings County Sheriff’s Department says an Arlington man was injured in an alcohol-related accident Monday.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says officers from their department, the Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Department, South Dakota Highway Patrol and Arlington Ambulance were called to an address on 456th Avenue in rural Arlington just after 8:30 p.m.

Sebring says 21 year-old Chance Strohm of Arlington had been drinking at the residence, got into a pickup truck, started the vehicle, and then drove through a fence and a small shed before crashing into a tree.

Strohm was taken by ambulance to the Brookings Hospital Emergency Room with unknown injuries.

The pickup was destroyed.

Strohm faces charges of DUI.
