WATERTOWN, S.D.–An architect has been chosen to design Watertown’s new two-sheet ice arena slated for construction in 2022.
The city council on Monday night chose The 292 Deisgn Group of Minneapolis to do the job.
They’ll be paid 5.5% of the guaranteed maximum price the city will pay contractors to build the facility.
That caused some alarm for Councilman Glen Vilhauer…
Mayor Ried Holien then re-directed the conversation from architectual fees back to the architect that was chosen…
The city council earlier this year approved up to $20 million in sales tax revenue bonds to fund construction of the new ice arena, but a final cost has not been determined.
