Appel wins Democratic primary for Roberts County sheriff

SISSETON, S.D.–Tyler Appel has won a Democratic primary race for Roberts County sheriff.
Appel received 634 votes in Tuesday’s race, defeating incumbent Sheriff Barry Hillestad, who got 441 votes.
In Marshall County, voters defeated a courthouse bond issue. There were 412 yes votes, but 765 no votes.
