WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Cowboy Country Store on Watertown’s north side got its package liquor license renewed Monday night.

The council first addressed the renewal at a November 1st meeting, but postponed action on it because they wanted to hear from a store representative.

One of the store’s clerks got caught selling to a minor during an alcohol compliance check by police in September, so on Monday night, Adam Spies, representing the store, appeared before the council to explain what happened…

Mayor Ried Holien says the council was not trying to single out the store by postponing action on their license renewal earlier this month, and he told Spies he appreciated him for showing up to the Monday night meeting.

The council also approved renewals for two other license-holders with previous violations–Dakota Butcher West and Johnny Ringo’s. Each had representatives appear before the council.

Dakota Butcher sold to a minor, while Johnny Ringo’s had a, “serving after hours” violation.
