WATERTOWN, S.D.—Above-ground work has started on a multi-million dollar development project in downtown Watertown.

The Lofts is a commercial and residential project that is the brainchild of Fargo developer Jesse Craig.

The multi-story building will feature 39 apartment units, a lower-level heated parking garage, and 7,000 square feet of retail space.

The project also includes 28 spaces for public parking.

It’s being built on the site of the former Harbor Bar, which burned down last year, Burritos on Broadway, which was demolished, and the Commerce Center parking lot.

Craig has also purchased the Palace Apartment building on East Kemp Avenue. That too will be demolished and replaced with a new apartment building featuring efficiency, one and two bedroom apartments.
