Aberdeen police investigate reports of shots fired

ABERDEEN, S.D.– Police responded to shots fired last night on Aberdeen’s south side.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, an officer was conducting a traffic stop near South Main and 4th Avenue when he heard several gunshots south of his location.

Several calls were also coming into Brown County Dispatch about the shots fired.

The area was identified as the 10 block of 13th Avenue Southeast, right off of Main Street.

Witnesses stated that the shots were fired by someone inside a dark-colored sedan. After the shots were fired, the vehicle sped away.

Shell casings were located on the roadway, but there were no reports of injuries or property damage.
