A tough day for Post 17 to open Creighton Classic

OMAHA, N.E. (GoWatertown.net) — A tough day for Watertown Post 17 to begin day one of the Creighton Classic as the purple and gold would fall to West Fargo 9-2 and Lincoln East 8-0.

Watertown’s second game was delayed due to bus trouble on the way to Omaha.

Game one versus West Fargo would see Zach Hirsch and Kale Stevenson each collect one run and one hit. Stevenson would pitch five innings, allowing four hits, five runs, walked four, fan six in 106 pitches. Connor Hanson would close the game on 32 pitches.

Schmidt would knock down the only hit for Watertown in game two against Lincoln East. Andrew Czech would go four innings on the hill, allowing six hits, seven runs, and walk six on 97 pitches.

Watertown Post 17 (21-20) will face Millard South at 9:30 a.m. on day two of the Creighton Classic. The night for the purple and gold will consist of taking in a College World Series game. Coach Ryan Neale says he hopes tonight becomes a learning experience:
