Sioux Falls police searching for second homicide suspect

November 19, 2024

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–New details released Sioux Falls police regarding the investigation into an August 25th homicide at Dunham Park.

Four people were shot that day, and 29 year-old Joshua Allen was killed.

Walter Stewart has been arrested and faces First Degree Murder charges for his involvement in that shooting. Now, police have made the public aware of a second suspect wanted in connection to the shooting.

Police say evidence was presented last week to a South Dakota Grand Jury, leading to Walter Stewart’s indictment and the indictment of a second individual: Lamont Burks Junior.

Burks also is charged with First Degree Murder. He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

Court documents list both Stewart and Burks as habitual offenders. Stewart has a prior felony for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
