UPDATE

WATERTOWN, S.D. (GoWatertow.net) — Due to a continued high number of positive COVID cases and close contacts, Watertown High School will remain in online learning for the week of September 28 – October 2.

In a release, Watertown Superintendent Jeff Danielsen says this will help contain the spread and clear up for those who are already positive or have been exposed and carry the potential for a positive test.  As of Friday, the active case count in Codington County sat at 208. Watertown High School has recorded 34 positive cases of the virus, with an estimated 250 close contacts.

Most 7-12 activities from September 22nd through October 2nd have been cancelled including Arrow football at home versus Brandon Valley September 25th and Harrisburg October 1st.  The next scheduled matchup for Watertown Football is October 9th at Sioux Falls O’Gorman.

Perhaps the most hit hard is girls and boys soccer with their final four games of regular season wiped out due to the pandemic.  Playoffs begin for both the boys and girls October 6th.

The lone sport to reschedule events has been volleyball with postponed games for September 22nd versus Sioux Falls Lincoln to be made up October 13th, the September 24th game versus Brandon Valley will now be played October 30th, the September 29th game versus Mitchell will be made up October 10th and the home matchup versus rival Brookings extended to November 7th. The next scheduled Arrow volleyball game is October 6th at home versus Pierre.
