National Weather Service confirms three tornadoes in eastern South Dakota

ABERDEEN S.D.–The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes touched down in eastern South Dakota on Sunday when severe storms developed over the region.

They were reported 18 miles northwest of Highmore in Hyde County, and two in Faulk County, 18 miles southwest of Faulkton and 13 miles west of Faulkton.

All were rated EF-1 tornadoes with maximum winds around 100 to 110 miles an hour, and were on the ground for less than one mile.

In each case, farm buildings were damaged or destroyed, and in the Hyde County twister, a calving shed was lofted into the air over a grove of trees.

There were no injuries.
