Officials say two people and two pets were not injured after a house caught fire in Watertown Friday morning. Watertown Fire Rescue was called to the home in the 320 block of 3rd Street NE at 5:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they reported seeing the back entrance of the home fully engulfed in flames with heavy smoke coming from the entire home. WFR said the people were able to get out on their own and crews saved the pet cat and dog. The two people were taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported. The home is still standing but received heavy damage from the smoke and flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation. WFR also thanked the Watertown Police Department and the Codington County Search and Rescue who assisted with the fire.
