Tractor destroyed by fire in rural Arlington

ARLINGTON, S.D.–A tractor was destroyed by fire in Brookings County Monday.

Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring says the fire at 207th Street and 456th Avenue in rural Arlington was called in just before 7:30 last night.

The owner of the tractor said he smelled what he thought were burning electrical wires and exited the tractor to see where the smell was coming from.

When he climbed back into the cab, he found the center console on fire.

The tractor, valued at $35,000, was a total loss.

Fire departments from Arlington and Lake Preston responded.
