A Watertown man acquitted yesterday (Monday) of killing a toddler is facing new charges. 26 year old Jay Barse was found not guilty of 2nd degree murder in the death of his former live-in girlfriend’s child, Serenity Seaboy.
He faces four new charges; including:
child abuse, victim less than 7 years old, a class 3 felony
two counts possession of controlled substance, a class 4 felony (methamphetamine and oxycodone)
and keeping a place for use or sale of controlled substance, a class 5 felony
Barse made his initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon. 3rd Circuit Magistrate Judge Carmen Means denied his attorneys’ request for a personal recognizance bond and reduced it from $5,000 to $3,000 cash or surety.
Barses preliminary hearing is set for November 19.
